NOTICE TO BIDDERS

 

 

Notice is hereby given that the Kansas Turnpike Authority is requesting sealed proposals for furnishing all labor and materials and performing all work in accordance with the Plans and Specifications and other Contract Documents, known as KTA Contract No. 5182.

 

TYPE OF WORK:  Work under this contract consists of overlaying an ultrathin bonded asphalt pavement section on the driving, passing lanes, and outside shoulder from KTA Milepost 96.3 to KTA Milepost 112.3, Chase County, Kansas, as well as other work shown on the plans or as specified.

 

Proposals, Plans, and Specifications are on file and may be obtained at the office of Michael L. Johnston, President/CEO, Kansas Turnpike Authority, 9401 East Kellogg, Wichita, Kansas, 67207-1804.  Plans may be requested by telephone, (316) 682-4537, ext. 2232, or by e-mail to mdaniels@ksturnpike.com.  A $15 non-refundable fee is required for each set of half-size Plans and Specifications ordered.

 

Sealed proposals will be received at the Kansas Turnpike Authority, 9401 East Kellogg, Wichita, Kansas until 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at which time the proposals shall be publicly opened and read aloud.  Facsimile bids will not be accepted.  Proposals must be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5 percent of bid and made payable to the Kansas Turnpike Authority as guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract and give a performance bond as required if awarded the contract.

 

The award of each contract shall be in accordance with the provisions of Section 103 of the Standard Specifications of the Kansas Department of Transportation, edition of 2007, and will be based upon the summation of the products of the unit prices and the approximate quantities.  In the event of a discrepancy between the unit prices and the extensions or grand total summation, the unit bid prices shall govern.

 

The Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularity therein, to determine which is the lowest responsible bid most suitable to the Authority.
